KosherKocktails: "Autumn in La Paz"

This week we decided to marry a truly old world cuvée with the frontiers of the Andes mountains. Our  ‘Autumn in La Paz’ cocktail combines the floral bouquet of tawny port with the Bolivian boldness of rujero, a spirit best described as: “If a fine tequila made love with a smooth pisco on a bed of rose petals.” Warm your beloved up with this one. 

Per drink:

2.0 oz Rujero
0.5 oz Tawny port (regular tawny port will suffice, no need for 10/20/30 year Port)
0.3 oz triple sec
Juice of half a lemon
2-3 spoons of raw sugar
3-5 sprigs of Thai basil

Muddle 3-4 sprigs of Thai basil with your lemon juice and raw sugar at the bottom of a cocktail shaker. Fill your shaker halfway with ice and add the port wine, rujero, and triple sec. Shake vigorously for 10 seconds and strain into a small tumbler glass* that is lined with a king ice cube. Garnish with a sprig of Thai basil.
